In the fields of filmmaking and screenwriting, it is recommended to limit the narration of characters so that the actions, conversations, and scenes speak for themselves. However, if there is an exception, and that name is Dexter! From the beginning, I was captivated by the character of Dexter – a dark, introverted individual. The strength of the character development was evident, reinforced by the impeccable casting and the engaging, crime-filled storyline.
Seasons 1 and 2 were exceptional, earning a commendable 9/10 rating
However, the quality of the show began to decline later on. The introduction of new characters and excessive drama weighed heavily on the once classic series. Despite my love for the character, I felt a gradual decline in his charm, including Debra’s. The writing and direction were solid, but Dexter himself took center stage, as his portrayal of dark humor remained a prominent aspect.
I must emphasize, however, that the first two seasons are a must-watch and should not be missed
His narration was a unique perspective throughout the episodes, where we got to learn how he perceives things, people, and crime; It was absolutely captivating. I recommend this series, but I encourage viewers to approach it at their own pace and choose the number of seasons.
