The recovery of the found missile in January 1985 was eventually covered by a large number of international media
Synopsis
It tells the inspiring story of an abused single mother who works for a small-town newspaper and who becomes involved in the investigation of the missile incident, which turns life upside down in a small northern village. It is based on a real case from December 1984, when a Soviet surface-to-air missile strayed from the Barents Sea across the border of Finland and crashed in Inarijärvi.
This film is a masterpiece
The depiction of Lapland in the 1980s seems incredibly authentic. The film looks, sounds and captures life as it was in the woods of Finland when the great Soviet Union loomed just behind the Iron Curtain.
As seen in this film, life can be heartbreaking and ugly, but sometimes surprisingly beautiful
An important theme is a female character who navigates a man’s world, trying to find her place, not through money, education or physical appearance, but by being true to herself. She is not a stereotypical woman who relies exclusively on men or, on the contrary, one who rejects them completely.
This film surpasses her previous work, Aurora
The cinematography, music and dialogue within the peculiarities of everyday life are captured spectacularly once again by Miia Tervo. But don’t just take my word for it: see the film for yourself.
